All are welcome here to walk with Jesus as we love, learn and flourish.

Class 1 w/c 6th July

Each week we try to get you thinking about PE and being active – it is so important for our physical and mental well-being but of course, when we have very rainy weeks, it can feel a bit daunting going outside – which is why we also like things like Yoga. This week we’re sharing this Cosmic Kids Adventure as it also reminds us how important washing our hands is.

Each week we will give you a task that must be completed, this is your Top Terrific Task.

This week’s task is RE (see below) and is linked to the story of Jesus walking on water. Act out the story and discuss it. Make your own picture of Jesus walking on water and try to write a sentence about it.

Click here to email me your work. I will send you a message back and if I haven’t heard from you by Friday I will get in touch to see if you need any extra help.

Ideas for

There are lots of maths activities on your worksheets this week including lots of work with numbers. If you enjoy games, we think this maths version of Guess Who (demonstrated by Andrew and Imogen) is very good. The game can be modified for lots of ages and abilities so it really is a whole family, fun game. Download the gameboards and instructions here.

Ideas

This week’s writing is all about bears – brown bears, polar bears, grizzly bears and, of course, teddy bears. You’ll be thinking about all sorts of bears and preparing for a teddy-bears’ picnic, so to get you in the mood, here’s a great tune from Jungle Book.

In RE we're learning

In this story from Matthew Chapter 14, we see how Peter’s faith in Jesus allows him to walk on water.

Following Boris Johnson’s 8pm announcement we now know that as of midnight tonight the country has entered a new period of Lockdown, a Lockdown that includes the closure of school.

School will be open for the children of Key Workers and for pupils who are deemed vulnerable. All pupils will be provided with work in order for them to keep learning.

Tonight’s announcement was very short notice for you as parents and also for us as a Staff. Tomorrow, by 11am there will be three tasks on the school website for each Class to complete as their Tuesday learning. However, School will be closed to ALL pupils tomorrow.

Staff, however, will be in school preparing for the rest of the Lockdown. Through tomorrow we will prepare school to make it safe for Key worker pupils and vulnerable children to return.

We will send out a form for you to apply for a place in the Keyworker Bubbles and we will let you know more about how children will be learning remotely. We will do our very best to re-open to Key Worker children and vulnerable pupils by Wednesday.

I am aware of how difficult this is for you all, School closing creates a multitude of problems for everyone but data surrounding this awful disease dictates that this is a necessary step. As ever, the safety and health of everyone must be a priority.

Thank you for your continued support and we will be in frequent contact over the next few days.

Many thanks

Claire Halstead
