This week Year 6 had a good day at the Bowley Bookfest which included a number of different activities and talks from children’s authors and illustrators. Some of the children had their books signed by author/illustrator Chris Riddell (Children’s Laureate 2015-2017). Later in the week Class 2 visited the Mayor of Clitheroe for a really interesting question and answer session. Thank you to two of our Governors who joined in this visit – Michael Mulrooney and Peter White. On both visits the children (as ever) represented St Mary’s wonderfully – they joined in with enthusiasm and behaved impeccably throughout.
Next week we have a Reading Adventure Day for the whole school. This is an exciting event where famous books are brought to life using 3D backdrops, props and original texts. Each class has a separate session where they will use their reading skills to search for clues in a fast-paced interactive adventure – ‘Dragon Quest’ for KS1 and ‘Escape from Crow Castle’ for KS2.
On Monday there is an important meeting at St Augustine’s for parents of children in Y6. On Thursday there is a general open evening at St Augustine’s.
We have sent out the school calendar for 2019/2020. Please check the term dates before you book any holidays as we are unable to authorise term-time holidays.
Please note that our Harvest Mass is now on Wednesday 17th October. We will continue to collect items for the Ribble Valley Foodbank in Clitheroe up to Friday 19th October. Please give generously as this is such a worthwhile cause. Items needed include men’s toiletries (including disposable razors), long life milk and long life fruit juice, tinned meat and fish, toilet rolls, washing powder, coffee, tinned fruit and custard.
