It's Science Selfies for Science Week at St Mary's!

British Science Week starts on the 5^th March 2021. To encourage you all to think like scientists we are going to hold a ‘Science Selfie’ competition!

We would like you to take a photograph and then, in one sentence, explain how it is science! It could be planting seeds, making slime, finding signs of Spring, looking at the effects of exercise on your body, baking… use your imagination!

We will be displaying all of your entries in the gallery below, so please e-mail them to your teacher along with your explanation of how it is science.

This is science because I’m learning about the life cycle of frogs.

This is science because I’m learning about seeds, fruit, and plant growth.

This is science because I’m observing how my heart rate changes as I climb this big hill.

This is science because I’m observing the effects of gravity.

This is science because I’m observing laminar flow (the uninterrupted flow in a fluid near a solid boundary in which the direction of flow at every point remains constant).

This is science because I’m learning how the dough changes as I roll it, and again when it is baked.

This is science because the heart increases the flow of blood to the muscles during exercise, thus supplying extra oxygen.
