It is so wonderful to be back at school after the long summer break and to welcome everyone back – old friends and of course all the people new to our class. We are looking forward to a fabulous year.
In literacy we have started to look at our class novel, The Firework Maker’s Daughter by Philip Pullman. We are really looking forward to reading the novel and we thought you may like to watch this video of Philip Pullman talking about lots of things but especially about his life as a writer/story teller.
In maths we have been looking at Place Value; we have been reading and writing numbers, partitioning numbers and ordering and comparing numbers. Understanding place value and the way that numbers work is very important and being able to partition can help us to develop a range of mental maths strategies.
In RE we have started to think about our family trees and in PSHE we have been exploring anger.
Our science topic for this half term is circuits and electrical safety.
